Your Trade Show Points – The Year of Transition

The time is upon us for the 3 year Home Show Shuffle!!

TRADE-SHOW-POINTSWith the shuffle, comes an update on YOUR Trade Show Points. Don’t be confused, the Trade Show Committee has decided to use this point system for both the Home Show and the Home Remodeling Show, hence the name Trade Show Points.

The 2015 HBA Home Remodeling Show is October 9-11 at the Springfield EXPO center.  NEW LOCATION!!

The 2016 HBA Home Show is January 29 – 31 at the Springfield EXPO center.

The Trade Show points system is used to determine the order in which vendors choose their new booth space every 3 years.  There are many ways to earn points including volunteering, participating, advertising and sponsoring.  Click here for the full list of ways to earn Trade Show Points.

Curious about how many Trade Show points your company has?  Click here for the list in number order or alphabetical.  This list is current through 2/26/15.

Calls will start being made the first part of March for both the Remodeling Show and Home Show booth placements.  If you have any questions contact Jamie at Jamie@SpringfieldHBA.com or 417.881.3711.

Here is a quick history of the Home Show Points System:

To refresh your Home Show memory . . . in the distant past (2003), the HBA Home Show was held in two buildings across the street from each other. After the show, the Home Show Committee received numerous calls from the public, praising how different and “new” the show looked compared to the Home Shows in years past.

The Home Show Committee realized that the public liked to see booths in different locations from year to year, making the Home Show experience fresh and new. So, they sought ways to “scramble” the booths in order to alleviate the problem of the Home Show looking the same from year to year.

The committee implemented a “Home Show Point System” that determined which company gets to pick its booth space first. For instance, if five companies all have 20 points, all five companies get called on the same day, and they have 24 hours to call the HBA office with the booth space they want. After 24 hours, the companies with 19 points are called, and so forth. Once a company picked their booth space, that space was set for the next three years. After three years, the “Point System” is recalculated, and we start all over! With this system, you have control of your destiny.  Every company starts at zero and has the opportunity to earn points based on how active they choose to become with the HBA.
