Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO renovates a home for a family with disabilities

Squashingroff-familyThe Squashingroff Family closes on their two-bedroom home after completing the homeowner requirements of the Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO (HFHS) program. A thirty minute dedication ceremony for the Squashingroff Family will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at 2169 W. Volunteer Way, Springfield, MO 65803, in the Habitat for Humanity subdivision, Legacy Trails.

“We are proud to provide the Squashingroff Family with a Habitat home that meets customized needs for accessibility,” said Larry Person, executive director. “The Squashingroffs have worked diligently to actively participate in the Habitat program and we are happy to see them move into and own their own home.”

The Squashingroff Family was accepted into the HFHS program in May 2014 after strengthening their financial situation by decreasing debt. The renovated Habitat home is customized for James and Catherine Squashingroff to meet their needs. “My family has been renting all our life,” said Catherine Squashingroff. “We would like to build some equity and be in a community that we’re paying into.” The Squashingroff family is proud to create a stable foundation for their family so their daughter Shelby can begin college courses.
