The HBA’s next general membership meeting is set for Tuesday, January 19. It will be a luncheon meeting, 11:30 am, at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center, 2546 N. Glenstone. The program will provide an overview of the “Stop Double Taxation: Protect Our Homes” ballot initiative. This effort, funded by the Missouri Association of Realtors, was recently endorsed by the HBAGS Board of Directors. If enough signatures are obtained and certified by the deadline, the following language will be placed on the ballot for consideration by Missouri’s voters in November 2010:
“Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to prevent the state, counties, and other political subdivisions from imposing any new tax, including a sales tax, on the sale or transfer of homes or any other real estate?”
