Rep. Diehl Pre-Files Legislation to Remove Sunset from Fire Sprinkler Law
Rep. Jon Diehl has pre-filed legislation (House Bill 46) which removes the December 31, 2011 sunset on the state provisions governing fire sprinkler system installation. (You can view the full legislation by clicking here.) The original statute passed in 2009 prohibits any political jurisdiction from adopting mandatory residential fire sprinklers in single family homes in Missouri and requires builders of new homes to offer installation of a fire sprinkler system to the buyer, at the buyer’s expense. By removing the sunset provision, the statute would not expire at the end of next year but become permanent state law.
