NEWS SUMMARY: HBA Home Show Opens Amid Improving Housing Market

On the eve of the opening day of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield’s annual Home Show, every local television station broadcast highlights of the upcoming show, and many discussed the improving state of the local residential construction industry. Below is a sample of the coverage that ran on KSPR 33 in Springfield.

KSPR‘s Natalie Swallow reported live Thursday morning from the HBA Home Show floor where she discussed the improving state of the home building sector of the economy. Her story featured interviews with Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield builder Sam Clifton (Millstone Homes) and HBA CEO Matt Morrow. Later, Morrow was a guest in studio on KSPR‘s newscast, interviewed by anchor Joe Daues about the state of housing and the HBA Home Show, which opens Friday at noon. Print coverage in the local press was also extensive of the HBA Home Show. The Springfield News-Leader highlighted the Home Show as the cover story on its Weekend section (Thursday, January 28), and again on page 2A of the Saturday (January 30) edition. The Springfield Business Journal had extensive coverage of the Home Show in its January 25 edition, including a profile of St. Jude Dream Home builder Jeff Fahrlander, and a story highlighting the ‘Home Show Squared’ promotion for this year (the HBA partnered with the Urban Neighborhoods Alliance and the Urban District Alliance to conduct an urban living tour in conjunction with the Home Show). KTTS radio news also reported on the show, early in the week.
