Last Chance for $150 BAR-PREP Scholarship is this FRIDAY!
The Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield Charitable Foundation recently established an unprecedented scholarship fund for HBA members who seek to pursue professional designations by taking NAHB University of Housing courses locally during 2011 and 2012.
The HBA’s Professional Designations program also is made possible in part by the support of Herrman Lumber Company, the official Professional Designation Partner of the HBA of Greater Springfield.
For those seeking to achieve Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) or Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) designations, the first necessary step is to complete the Builder Assessment Review (BAR) or the Professional Remodeler Experience Profile (PREP) exam.
To encourage HBA members to get started sooner than later on pursuing professional designations, the HBA Charitable Foundation scholarship fund is offering scholarships of $150 toward the $195 exams for the first 20 HBA members who sign up to take each test when it is offered at the HBA of Greater Springfield THIS FRIDAY, MAY 13. This will be the last opportunity in 2011 to take the BAR or PREP exams locally. It also will be the last opportunity to receive a $150 scholarship to cover most of the cost of the exam.
Significantly reduced cholarship dollars also will be available for HBA members who take the exams in 2012. Full details on the scholarships, course schedule, and exam information are available in the HBA’s Education Course Catalog. Or, register online now by clicking here.
BAR (Builder Assessment Review)
Join the elite ranks of the nation’s top building professionals. The Certified Graduate Builder (CGP) designation is your sign to clients and colleagues that you are a member of this respected group of professionals.
The Builder Assessment Review (BAR) is your first step toward obtaining this prestigious designation. This comprehensive course assessment will measure your expertise in five key areas of the building industry: Building Technology, Busienss and Finance, Project Management, Sales and Marketing, and Safety. Your results will show you the areas where your knowledge is strongest, where it is weakest and will determine the courses required for you to obtain your CGB designation. Now, for the first time, you have a chance to “test out” of those areas where your knowledge and experience is greatest. This will allow you to earn your CGB designation faster than ever before. The BAR has been set high. Do you have what it takes to be a CGB? Let’s find out… If you are up to the challenge, you too can join the most prestigious club in the building industry.
PREP (Professional Remodeler Experience Profile)
Become one of the nation’s top remodeling experts. The Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) designation is a distinctive mark of certification. CRG symbolizes to your customers and colleagues that you are a member of a respected group of professional remodelers.
The PREP is the required first step in the process of becoming a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR). Candidates do not pass or fail the PREP. Similarly to the BAR, PREP results determine the course of study for CGR candidates. The 150-question assessment measures a candidate’s knowledge in five core areas of remodeling business management: Marketing and Advertising; Business Management; Estimating; Contracts, Liability and Risk Management; and Project Management.
