Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO helps 5 low-income families preserve homes during A Brush With Kindness Week

WHO: Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO (HFHS) and volunteers will complete 5 home preservation projects in the Westside neighborhood of Springfield, MO.

WHAT: The A Brush with Kindness program focuses on providing services to help low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. HFHS will utilize volunteers to transform neighborhoods by painting, providing minor exterior home repairs, landscaping, and yard clean-ups for low-income homeowners.

WHEN: September 19 – 26, 2015. Volunteers begin Tuesday, September 22 – 26, 2015.

WHERE: The projects during A Brush With Kindness week will be focused on the Westside neighborhood of Springfield, MO. Due to construction schedules, volunteers will change locations daily. To schedule an interview, please call 417-829-4001 x 109.

WHY: The A Brush with Kindness program uses volunteers, donated materials and no-profit loans to make the repairs affordable, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes. From July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, HFHS completed 110 home preservation programs which impacted 196 individuals in our community.

VISUAL: The majority of projects during A Brush with Kindness Week will be painting. Volunteers will all be wearing shirts branded with the event logo.
