HBA Membership Involvement Point System – 2016 – PLEASE READ

VIEW UPDATED MEMBERSHIP INVOLVEMENT POINTS

2016 is the first year of a three year cycle – you have the opportunity to keep the same booth space for the 2017 and 2018 HBA Home Show.

To refresh your Home Show memory . . . The year was 2003 and the HBA Home Show was held in two buildings across the street from each other. After the show, the HBA received numerous calls from the public, praising how different and “new” the show looked compared to the Home Shows in years past.

The Home Show committee realized that the public liked to see booths in different locations from year to year, making the Home Show experience fresh and new. So, they sought ways to “scramble” the booths in order to alleviate the problem of the Home Show looking the same from year to year.

The committee implemented a “Home Show Point System” that determined the order that HBA members chose their booth spaces. For instance, if five companies all have 20 points, all five companies get called on the same day, and they have 24 hours to call the HBA office with the booth space they want. After 24 hours, the companies with 19 points are called, and so forth. Once a company picked their booth space, that space was set for the next three years. After three years, the “Point System” is recalculated, and we start all over! With this system, you have control of your destiny.  Every company starts at zero and has the opportunity to earn points based on how active they choose to become with the HBA.

The Home Show committee is now called the Trade Show committee and works with both the HBA Home Show and the HBA Home Remodeling Show. Part of this change involved looking at the “Home Show Points System” and modifying it to include more ways to earn points and renaming the system. It is now known as the “HBA Membership Involvement Points System” and has 44 ways to earn points.

This revamped system was approved at the end of 2015 and HBA staff is currently working on recalculating everyone’s points from 3/1/15 to current. Following is an explanation of the system and the list of ways to earn points.
