40 plus Neighborhood Revitalization Projects completed in one day

Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO (HFHS) will join Wesley United Methodist Church to host a Day of Hope on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to complete more than 40 Neighborhood Revitalization Projects. A Day of Hope will utilize more than 200 volunteers in the Heart of the Westside & West Central Neighborhoods in Springfield, MO to complete various revitalization projects.

Saturday’s projects will focus on one component of the Neighborhood Revitalization initiative; A Brush With Kindness, which focuses on exterior home preservation including raking and lawn mowing, to gutter cleanout and brush removal. At this time, all projects for Saturday’s Day of Hope event are booked, but volunteer resources are still in desperate need.

“Neighborhood Revitalization programs like A Brush With Kindness allow us to provide a further reach of our mission to the community,” said Larry Peterson, executive director. “We are blessed to have such a great partnership with Wesley United Methodist Church to tackle so many projects in one day.”

To volunteer on Saturday at a Day of Hope, no skills are needed. Volunteers must be 16 and older and must register with Tommy Hawkins, volunteer coordinator at HFHS. Tommy Hawkins can be reached at 417-829-4001 x 112 or tommyhawkins@habitatspringfieldmo.org. Volunteers will meet at Praise Assembly of God at 806 N. Forest at 9:00 am for a quick meeting before being disbursed through the Heart of the Westside and West Central Neighborhoods in Springfield, MO for project assignments.
