Your political action committee, the Coalition for Building a Better Tomorrow, recently elected to financially support Springfield City Council Zone 3 Candidate Jerry Compton. Compton, appointed to council in 2009, will be on the ballot for the February 8 primary. Compton is also recommended by the Springfield Good Government Committee, a coalition of small business and industry leaders which recruits and supports council candidates.
Compton is the only current member of council with experience on the Planning & Zoning Commission. He is an architect and also the campus construction manager for Missouri State. His three main goals are: supporting economic development, supporting public safety and strengthening neighborhoods.
Zone 3 encompasses the portion of Springfield to the south of Sunshine St. and west of National Ave. There is also a city wide primary for council seat C on February 8 between incumbent Doug Burlison and two other candidates. The top two vote-getters on February 8 will proceed to the general election on April 5. If you live in the City of Springfield, remember to get out and vote on Tuesday, February 8!
