Block Kids Building Blocks Competition

Color_Block_Kids_logoA fun and exciting competition for the future construction generation starts with building blocks, string, foil and poster board. Your kids or grandchildren will love this time of imagination, challenge and the feeling of accomplishment.

The Block-Kids Building Program is a national building program competition that is sponsored on the local level by NAWIC chapters and other organizations. The award-winning program introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and to promote aninterest in future careers in one of the many facets of the industry. The program is open to all elementary school children in grades 1-6.

The competition involves the construction of various structures with interlocking blocks and three of the following additional items: A small rock, string, foil and poster board. Local winners advance to Regional Competition and one semi-finalist from each region is entered in the National Program competitions. National prizes are awarded to the top three projects.

The National Association of Women in Construction local chapter #366 of Southwest Missouri is hosting the annual Block Kids competition.  This event it taking place from  2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Willard Orchard Hills Elementary located at 4595 W. Farm Road 140, Springfield, Mo.  This program was developed to promote and stimulate our children’s knowledge in regard to the construction industry.  Children eligible to participate must be in grades 1 thru 6.  This year’s goal is 100 children participants.  Participation is FREE!!!

HBACFAll the children will receive a hard hat, T-shirt and participation medal as well as other items donated by people in the construction industry. To honor these future people in construction, the Home Builders Association Charitable Foundation (HBACF) is proud to be sponsoring the prizes that will be handed out this year.
