Remodelors Council Discusses Education Opportunity

At its March meeting, the Remodelors Council members received a recap of Legislative Day, discussed the upcoming “Call A Remodeler” segment on KY3 and talked about establishing an educational opportunity which would facilitate builder members joining the Remodelors Council if they wish to do so.

Matt Bailey updated the Council about the main issues discussed in Jefferson City on Legislative Day. These issues included an update on an educational brochure being developed by the Workers’ Compensation Division explaining the construction industry’s unique insurance requirements (prompted by our leadership team’s meeting with the Division last year), proposed changes to the Mechanic’s Lien statute and a bill seeking to mandate adoption of a statewide energy code.

The “Call A Remodeler” segment on KY3 is scheduled to air on Wednesday, March 24. Shannon Lee, Sam Bradley, Scott Bracy, Adrian Rhoads and Andy Flint volunteered to be part of the phone bank that will answer remodeling questions.

The Council appointed a sub-committee to further address the educational requirements for an HBA builder member (that has not been remodeling for two years) to become a member of the Remodelors Council. This sub-committee is to meet in March and bring a proposal to the Council at the April meeting.
