The Springfield News-Leader‘s Cory de Vera recently reported on the Ozarks area’s first officially certified green home – built to the NAHB National Green Building Standard. The home was featured on the 2010 HBA Parade of Homes and was built by Scott Kisling (Up-Tyte Construction). The article also highlights upcoming green building projects (planned for certification to the standard), including the HBA’s recently announced partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Springfield to build two homes as a part of Habitat’s “Builders Circle” development. The entire development will be certified to the National Green Building Standard. The HBA’s two-home building project – which will serve as green building demonstrations for consumers and building professionals – will be the first homes in the development. Kisling will head the demonstration project on behalf of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield.
