The Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield will open the doors to its annual Home Show in just one week, promising a big helping of what’s new, along with the tried and true favorites.

The 2012 HBA Home Show has everything to inspire your next home improvement or building project – all under one roof. Attendees of the 2012 HBA Home Show (which runs from Friday, January 27 through Sunday, January 29) will have an opportunity to browse more than 400 elaborate display booths and visit with more than 200 exhibitors at the Springfield Expo Center. Cost of admission is $6 (attendees who bring a can of food to donate to Ozarks Food Harvest will receive $1 off admission). Children under 12 are admitted free. Show times:

Friday, January 27 – Noon to 8 pm

Saturday, January 28 – 10 am to 8 pm

Sunday, January 29 – 11 am to 5 pm

The annual event acts as something of a barometer for how the residential construction industry can be expected to perform in the year ahead. In 2012, residential remodeling remains a healthy sector of the local economy. And, the HBA is forecasting that a gradual, multi-year recovery in new home construction will begin to take shape in 2012.

“It’s no secret that home building has been slowed in recent years,” said Matt Morrow, CEO of the HBA of Greater Springfield. “But here, in the Greater Springfield area, unemployment is well below state and national averages, and falling. We were recently recognized as the #3 market in the country for job creation. And our available housing inventory is well within normal ranges. That’s why home prices have stabilized here. And it is why now is the absolute best time to consider buying, building or remodeling a home.”

The HBA is forecasting a gradual, multi-year recovery of the local residential construction sector to continue begin taking hold in 2012. Housing starts in 2012 should exceed those built in 2010 by approximately 10% to 15%. That makes it a great time for consumers to dust off those plans to build, buy or remodel – and there’s no better place to kick things off than at the Home Show.

This year’s Home Show will also feature informative seminars and demonstrations:
